Egypt Hosts First Friendship League’s Ice Hockey Tournament

INTERNATIONAL: Egypt might be famous for its Pyramids amid the dessert sands, but what not everyone knows is that some Egyptians are interested in… Ice Hockey! In partnership with a tourism organization that uses sports to harness cross-cultural engagement, the country hosted a three-days of games in the capital Cairo.

The country hosted its first ever Friendship League’s Ice Hockey tournament, to promote the winter sport and inspire Egyptians to be part of international championships in the future.

Out of the six teams that played, three were Egyptian. They were made up of local players residing in Egypt and abroad, and a final third team representing the Egypt Ice Hockey national team. The remaining three teams brought in a mix of players from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Germany, Japan, and others.
